About Zen Products By Jade
Zen Products By Jade is a small handmade home-fragrance business run by Jade from a workshop in Colchester, Essex. We've been pouring wax melts and blending carpet fresh since the early 2010s. What started as a couple of orders for friends grew into a steady business through word-of-mouth and repeat customers.
How it started
Jade started making wax melts at home as a hobby. The early orders came from family and a few neighbours, then via Facebook from a wider circle. The first time we ran out of stock was at the local Christmas market — three crates of melts disappeared in an afternoon, and that was the day it stopped being a hobby and started being a business.
We registered properly, set up the small workshop, and worked out the parts of the process that hadn't mattered when we were making for friends — proper labelling, batch numbering, fragrance-oil testing, and CLP compliance.
How we make
Everything is hand-poured in small batches. The fragrance oils come from established UK suppliers. The wax is a soy/paraffin blend we settled on after testing about a dozen alternatives — it gives a long, even melt and a stronger scent throw than pure soy without the soot issues of pure paraffin.
Each batch is weighed, mixed, and poured the same day. Labels are printed and applied by hand, with the exact fragrance name, batch number, weight, and the full CLP hazard panel. We keep a record of every batch for traceability — if you ever need to know what's in a melt you bought from us, we can tell you.
Why CLP labelling matters
Home fragrance products contain chemicals. Even natural fragrance oils have allergens and hazard properties that buyers (and pets, and children) need to be aware of. UK and EU law requires CLP-compliant labelling on every wax melt and home fragrance product — that's the standardised hazard panel showing allergens, hazard codes, signal words, and supplier identification.
Plenty of small UK fragrance sellers skip this. We don't. It costs more time per batch and we end up with bigger labels than would be aesthetically ideal, but it means the products are legally sellable, professionally insurable, and safe for buyers to know exactly what they're putting in their home.
The customer side
Roughly half our orders are repeat customers. The other half come from Facebook, word-of-mouth recommendations, and the occasional craft fair. We try to know who's ordering — when someone reorders a specific scent for the third time, we'll often throw in a sample of a new fragrance we think they'd like.
If you've ordered before and want to know what you ordered, drop us a line. We keep records.
Where we ship
UK mainland delivery via Royal Mail tracked, usually 2–3 working days from dispatch. We ship to the Highlands, Channel Islands, and Northern Ireland (longer transit times). International orders are case-by-case — wax melts are classified hazardous for some international air shipping, so we check before quoting.
